I'm completely done with remakes. The only one that was really good, and actually worth the effort while being faithful was the resident evil 1 remake. That was actually made with the original director and made with the intent of fulfilling their intended vision for the game that they just couldn't do at the time with hardware limitations Most others are made with the intention of being a cheap cash grab or re-imagine the game to be needlessly changed and unrecognizable. Then there's the "modern audiences" problem which goes much deeper than just diversity and censorship. Other problems with "modern audiences" are things like dumbing down gameplay like with the remakes of resident evil 2 and 3 because modern gamers can't stand fixed camera or tank controls, so the games were drastically changed to make them "accessible". Then there's also the removal of ink ribbons and limited saves and the addition of auto saves. Remakes just have too many changes to gameplay, story, characters, tone, atmosphere, writing, etc. Leave the classics alone!

I didn't play Silent Hill 2 to jerk off to the SA survivor.

All remakes should have been remake in the early 2000s. All the remakes in post 2018 have been woke, garbage, politically correct bullshit.

I like some modern remakes like dead space did it right I get others aren't equal but resident evil and dead space were the only good ones others I can admit weren't the best

I just want companies to make something new rather than remake thing because I remember seeing the silent hill 2 remake being and I just felt nothing to wards it because I was getting sick of remakes at that point.

The problem with Dead Space Remake for me was when test on my Steam Deck it heated up to the point it I had to manually shut it down. Even though Steam Deck "checkers" in Steam Store claim it check as all green. Yah I will wait for price decrease, and stick with the originals for time being. Learned my lesson from Dead Space Remake. Hopefully Silent Hill F is good. Silent Hill: Message or whatever looks good plus it's free so will give that a shot.

Remakes should make the original games obsolete, but it just feels like the original fans do not matter to them anymore. Buy the remakes at your own risk.

I played the Dead Space remake. It was mediocre. There was not a single thing that I felt was better than the original. It all fell short. Then there were things that were worse. Issac's character model was awful. Giving him dialogue ruined the feel too. Nicole's character model looked like an ugly old battleaxe with a boss bitch voice and dialogue. The original Nicole was pretty and had a voice just as beautiful being smooth as silk. I noticed plenty of other woke bullshit I won't get into. Pooper Team blew it with Angela. Original Angela was quite subdued and jaded in the graveyard scene, not sensitive and nervous. I believe her character might have developed to display less emotion because of the abused she suffered. She only show more drastic emotion when she feels panicked about reliving her past. Even then, it has to be some of the most extreme scenarios because otherwise, she can reflect on her past quietly laying down on the floor, her eyes piercing through the blade of her knife with a thousand yard stare that would rival a hardened military vet. Her model is absolute garbge too. She should look gaunt and gothic. Instead, they ripped the eyebrows off of Bert from Sesame Street and gave her a younger looking, stupid fat face! The other version of new Angela still looks like shit. Whoever modeled her doesn't have enough talent or skill to model a chair or a can of soup. I can model women's faces better than this, and I'm no professional. Maria is godawfully bad. Her chest is practically concave. The original Maria was already quite woke in her own right. They didn't build her original like a corn star with big breasts and her hip to waist ratio was intentionally imperfect as well. I still liked OG Maria. She didn't have to be perfect. New Maria is basically wearing a trench coat. Maria's character has pronounced Borderline Personality traits. Women with that condition will dress provocatively for a funeral or a party. As a BPD woman, Maria would be paying attention to every little detail about her looks, from her boots, all the way up to the colored highlights in her hair. Original Maria would hate that stupid, unflattering overcoat and slam it on the ground in disgust, then angrily berate you for even thinking she would wear it. Think of the "Anyway?! What do you mean "Anyway!"" kind of energy. I would go so far as to say that a woman with BPD would probably be awesome at designing appealing female characters in great detail.

I liked RE4R and FF reimagining, I refuse to cause it a remake because that is not accurate. I get it though. It is aggravating to see games cater to modern sensibilities and call themes that made games great in the past " outdated". To see sensitivity warnings on mature game boils my blood so much!! I was looking forward to SH2R, but when I saw androgynized Angela and nurses, I knew this game was going to incorporate a lot of modern BS.

The original devs aren't ashamed, but the company is, because they think the loud minority is the majority, so they cater to them, now they're realizing this "ashamed" trick isn't profitable, they'll back peddle soon and they'll give less fks about the loud minority, considering if they're smart. Man, I love this video.

Hard to get excited for remakes these days, especially since they get updated for "Modern Audiences."

I got RE4 remake with a graphics card purchase, probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise. And to be fair, I didn't think the changes were severe enough to be a problem for me. I liked it way more than I expected. It doesn't feel as charming as the original but I still really liked it. One of the very few games made in the last 5 years that I did.

Good video, honestly when it comes to remakes I only like ones that are faithful to the original and improve the game in some way but also give reasons to still play the original game, some that I generally do like for a example are the Medievil ps4 remake and the Demons Souls remake both of those remakes improved over the original in a lot of ways and were faithful to the original unlike remakes like re4r which I don't really like much because it didn't improve anything really and was just a cash grab and 4 didn't even need a remake because its a near perfect game and is still far superior in pretty much everyway when compared to re4r

Spot on my man. Modern day remakes for the "modern audience" are words that just let you know you should play the original and stay as far away as possible from the remake. We had it so good in the past, I have recently purchased PS3 slim, installed custom firmware on it so I can backup all of my game collection into ISO format, just playing anything from the PS3 era is such a breath of a fresh air. So many experimental games/genres, so many good stories, other than running below 30fps which can be somehow mitigated with overclocking PS3 with custom firmware I rally can't emphasize how good of a generation the PS3/X360 was.

You can tell instantaneously with 100 percent accuracy who is a real fan of the original FF7 by asking if they like remake/rebirth. If they answer yes, they are not fans of the original no matter how much they claim they are. There is zero exceptions.

Hot take, remakes work great when done right, resident evil Games aside from re3 are spot on phenomenal, and make it up to date and modeled well, simply do not rush it like re3 was, and it’s a master piece imo

Mafia Definitive Edition (remake of Mafia 1) was the last amazing remake. After that, its been mostly downhill with a few exceptions. Did you play Mafia Definitive Edition? If you didnt, I highly recommend it. One of the best open world gangster games of all time next to Saints Row 1-2, Vice City, San Andreas, IV, Sleeping Dogs, True Crime LA & NY, Scarface, Godfather 1-2, and Mafia 2.

I can't believe the original dev for Silent Hill 2 wanted James to look OLDER because the players aged......WTF. Unless there's a time skip or a direct sequel to the game,that makes zero sense. Fan backlash had him reconsider,so the face was changed.

There are good remakes out there (RE4R) and there remakes that just miss the mark on why the original was great (FF7R Trilogy). I'm cautiously optimistic for MGS delta at the same time I feel like a lot of Devs rely on nostalgia as crutch instead of doing games.

agree on all points, I gave up already. I'd say take your money and just travel more instead of playing games. Theres also getting into investing, if the slop is going to keep coming we might as well make some money of them ourselves, the whales wont stop anytime soon. If you are going to play games just buy a portable PC and play the classics. Forget modern gaming, let it die off and take pleasure in the fact that we grew up when gaming was good. Let these new gamers and "journalist" enjoy their corporate slop.

I didn't even play Resident Evil 5 that much but if Capcom were to remake RE5, I have a feeling it's been very different in a bad way. Mainly because some people keep saying how "racist" it is when it really isn't.

FF7R is a massive letdown and will forever be a stain on the franchise. Until I played Remake, FF13 was my most hated FF game, but I'd gladly spend eternity suffering with 13 if would erase Remake and replace it with a proper remaster like we had all hoped for. I haven't played Rebirth yet, but after watching so many reviews its apparent that this FF7 doesn't even have the same characters from the "PS1 timeline" of the game! Its a different timeline altogether! That's not what fans were hoping for! Maybe, just maybe, the pain at their pocketbook has caused SE to reconsider their strategy going forward. It certainly sounds like they heard fans after Remake and tried to keep Rebirth closer to what people were wanting, but it still falls short. Good think we still have access to the original, and that people have been working on patches and updates to make it a more "modern hardware" experience.
